Slot Canyons

Galleries

There are some quite spectacular Slot Canyons only a few miles from Page, Arizona. Some have only been discovered recently and the ones around Page are all on Navajo Tribal Land. As such, they can only be visited with a Navajo guide. Perhaps the most famous, and certainly most visited, is Upper Antelope canyon, where at certain times of the day shafts of light descend to the canyon floor. The canyons are created by water and these places are dangerous if there is any sign of rain within a 25 mile radius. Even 1/4" of rain falling 20 miles away can cause a deadly flash flood through a canyon. Pictures are from 4 canyons , Owl, Rattlesnake, Antelope and Sheep canyon.
